To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what arrangements are in place for the Solicitor-General for Scotland to be accountable to both Houses of Parliament; and if he will make a statement.
The present Solicitor-General for Scotland is not a member of either House. When neither the Lord Advocate nor the Solicitor-General for Scotland is a member of this House, it is the practice for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State to answer questions relating to their responsibilities.It is open to a Select Committee of this House or the other place to invite the Solicitor-General for Scotland to give evidence to the Select Committee in relation to any matter falling within the orders of reference of the
