To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the use and development of horticulture as a therapeutic treatment within the national health service in Scotland.

The national health service has long understood the part that horticultural work can play in the treatment programmes of, for example, patients with a mental illness or learning difficulty. Decisions about its use and development are however a matter for NHS provider units based on identified clinical needs.
