To ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many young people have been waiting for eight weeks or more for a place on a youth training scheme in the Barnsley, East constituency; and what steps he is taking to ensure that a place is provided for them.

The information is not available in the form requested. The records held by Barnsley Careers Service show that in April only six young people had been waiting for a youth training place for over eight weeks. Barnsley/ Doncaster training and enterprise council is continuing to ensure that the Government's guarantee to young people is met and is pursuing individual cases.
