To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the involvement of his Department in the effort to reduce illegal imports of drugs.

One of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's objectives is the promotion of effective international co-operation against drugs, particu-larly in the context of the 1988 United Nations drugs convention. The FCO department concerned plays an active part in international meetings on drugs, and is engaged in a range of activity to develop bilateral co-operation to reduce drug production and trafficking.
