To ask the President of the Board of Trade, pursuant to his answer of 18 May, Official Report, column 123, when information regarding trade with Croatia was first separately identified from the rest of former Yugoslavia; how permissible trade with Croatia, Slovenia, Macedonia and Bosnia-Herzegovina was distinguished from prohibited trade with Serbia and Montenegro prior to the collection of separate figures; and if he will make a statement.

[holding answer 27 May 1993]: United Kingdom trade with Serbia and Montenegro was separately identified from trade with the other former Yugoslav republics in the collection of trade statistics since 1 July 1992. However, in line with normal practice to make major changes to the statistical systems only at the start of a calendar year, separate figures were not published until January 1993. Since then, separate figures have been published for Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro and Macedonia.
