To ask the Secretary of State for Health what response she has made to the report, "Community Care Planning; a Model for Housing Need Assessment with Reference to People with Learning Disabilities", produced by the Institute of Housing and the National Federation of Housing Associations, a copy of which has been sent to her; and if he will make a statement.

We are aware of this report. The question of the provision of housing and accommodation for people with learning disabilities is an important one. Within the community care arrangements we have made it clear that social services departments, housing authorities and other housing providers should work together in planning and providing services to meet local need. The guidance issued last year to local authorities (LAC(92)15) on planning services for adults with learning disabilities also emphasised this point. Copies of the guidance are available in the Library.
