Blood Donors

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to her reply of 21 May, Official Report, columns 333–34, if she is giving consideration to adding persons who are at risk of exposure to radiation to the categories of persons asked not to donate blood for the National Blood Transfusion Service; and if she will make a statement.

The National Blood Transfusion Service does not consider that such persons, in general, should be excluded from donating blood. The decision whether or not to accept such a person as a donor depends on the individual's own medical history.
