To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will ensure that British Nuclear Fuels Ltd. make available under section 13A of the Radioactive Substances Act 1960 to those involved in the statutory consultation process in relation to the opening of the thermal oxide reprocessing plant at Sellafield the report on the economics of the plant commissioned from Touche Ross.

[holding answer 26 May 1993]: Under section 13A of the Radioactive Substances Act 1960, copies of all applications made to the chief inspector of Her Majesty's inspectorate of pollution are made publicly available, except where material is withheld for reasons of national security and commercial confidentiality. No report by Touche Ross has been submitted to HMIP by British Nuclear Fuels plc as part of an application under the Act. The question of making any such report on the economics of THORP available is a matter for the company.
