To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what percentage of young people entering employment for the first time receive training from their employers.

The Youth Cohort Study of England and Wales showed that in the spring of 1992 66 per cent. of 16 and 17-year-olds and 83 per cent. of 17 and 18-year-olds in full-time employment received either on or off-the-job training from employers.
