To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, pursuant to his answer of 19 May, Official Report, column 181, on transborder impacts of environmental pollution, if he will set out the multilateral treaties and EC directives containing formal consultation between parties on transfrontier issues to which he refers.

- 77/795/EEC—Decision establishing a common procedure for the exchange of information on the quality of surface fresh water.
- 80/779/EEC—air quality standards for sulphur dioxide and suspended particulates.
- 82/176/EEC and 84/156/EEC—limit values and quality objectives for mercury discharges.
- 82/501/EEC and amendments—major accident hazards.
- 83/153/EEC—limit values and quality objectives for cadmium discharges.
- 85/203/EEC—air quality standards for nitrogen dioxide.
- 85/337/EEC—assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment.
- 88/609/EEC—limitation of emissions of certain pollutants into the air from large combustion plants.
- 92/72/EEC—air pollution by ozone.
- Paris Convention from the Prevention of Marine Pollution from Land-based Sources.
- Oslo Convention for the Prevention of Marine Pollution by Dumping from Ships and Aircraft (this and the Paris Convention to be replaced by a Co-operation Agreement for the Protection of Coasts and Waters of the North-east Atlantic against Pollution).
- Geneva Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution.
- Helsinki Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents.
- Espoo Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context.
