Mr. Churchill
To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many residents of Nigeria are currently, to his knowledge, in receipt of either United Kingdom social security, housing or other benefit; and what information he has on their occupations.
Mr. Burt
In December 1991, the latest date for which figures are currently available, 206 people resident in Nigeria were receiving United Kingdom retirement and widows pensions. There are currently six residents of Nigeria in receipt of war pensions. Information on other benefits is not readily available and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost. We have no information about the occupation of these beneficiaries.
