To ask the Secretary of State for Wales, pursuant to his answer to the hon. Member for Clywd, North-West (Mr. Richards), of 15 June, Official Report, column 523, if he wil make it his policy to establish arrangements to allow his Department to gather data on the collection of household waste that is recycled in Wales.

The Government have been working with the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy to devise arrangements for the collection of recycling data. Local authorities in England and Wales have been asked to provide information about recycling rates as part of the institute's 1991–92 waste collection and disposal surveys. I understand that the results of these surveys will be published shortly.
