To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department what action his Department intends to take in the light of the judgment of Lord. Justice Neill and Mr. Justice Mantell in relation to legal aid.

The judgment sustained, on all points at issue, the measures taken by the Lord Chancellor earlier this year to restrain the rate of growth in legal aid expenditure. No further action is therefore necessary in respect of the regulations which were the subject of the judgment.
