To ask the President of the Board of Trade, pursuant to his answer of 5 March, Official Report, column 349, if he will list (a) the name and business connections of the inspector, (b) the date on which he published the interim and final reports in which the individual was criticised, (c) the date on which he referred the criticisms of the accountant inspector criticised in the Ramor report to any of the accountancy bodies and (d) the total cost of the Ramor and Gilgate investigations, showing the fees paid to accountant inspectors.

  • (a) Mr. P. L. Ainger, FCA of Messrs. Price Waterhouse.
  • (b) The interim report dated 23 December 1981 was published on 22 March 1983. The final report dated 11 December 1987 remains unpublished.
  • (c) 22 March 1983 immediately on publication of the interim report.
  • (d) The total costs of the Ramor investigation were as follows:
