To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what plans he has to introduce a statutory youth service in Wales and to develop a formula for funding local youth service provision.

None. Local education authorities already have a statutory duty to secure provision for their areas of adequate facilities for further education, and for recreation, social and physical training for those of school age. These provisions cover the youth service. The resources made available to Welsh local authorities through the annual local authority revenue settlement are not attributed to particular services. Youth service funding at the local level is a matter for individual authorities to determine in the light of local needs and priorities.
