To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what assessment he has made of the effect of the level of assistance available under the special employment schemes on the level of employment of blind people.

[holding answer 23 July 1993]: Such an assessment is contained in the consultative document "Evaluation of Special Schemes for people with disabilities: Summary Paper", November 1990. A copy of this is available in the Library.The range of help currently available to the blind and partially sighted will continue, and be enhanced, under access to work from April 1994.
