To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what assessment he has made of the effect of abuse of anabolic steroids on the incidence of violent crime; and if he will make a statement.

The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs has recently completed a review of the misuse of anabolic steroids, including the available evidence on their behaviourial side effects and the possible link with violent crime. We are currently considering the council's conclusions and recommendations, together with other ministerial colleagues.
