To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what steps his Department is taking to monitor the effect on other parts of London arising from the City Corporation's current road closure scheme.

I have a quasi-judicial role if a permanent scheme is brought forward and I am advised it would be improper for my Department to collect its own data. If the City of London Corporation does wish to make the scheme permanent, it will require the consent of the traffic director and will need to provide him with information about the effects on the strategic road network on all parts of London.
