To ask the Secretary of State for Defence when he last visited the atomic weapons establishment at Aldermaston; what was the purpose of his visit; and if he will make a statement.

My right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Defence last visited AWE Aldermaston in June. The purpose of his visit was a briefing on the role and work of AWE.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the fire which occurred in a glove box in the A area of AWE Aldermaston on 15 June.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list by year for the last five years, the cost of running the Aldermaston atomic weapons establishment.

The costs of the defence nuclear programme, including the costs of AWE, are classified, in accordance with the practice of successive Governments.
