To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to his answer of 28 June, Official Report, columns 377–78, on training land, whether he intends to publish the results of the work his Department is conducting in the assessment of the Army's training needs; and if he will make a statement.
My Department's proposals for the future organisation of the Army's individual training organisation were set out in the answer my right hon. Friend the Member for Epsom and Ewell (Mr. Hamilton) gave my hon. Friend the Member for Wimbledon (Dr. Goodson-Wickes) on 16 December 1992 at columns 335–36 and the answer that I gave my hon. Friend the Member for South Dorset (Mr. Bruce) on 22 July at column 351–52. These, together with the Army's requirements for unit and formation training, will form the basis of the Army's training needs. Any requirement for training land to meet that requirement will be subject to rigorous scrutiny before any final decisions are taken.I am placing in the Library of the House a copy of a summary of the Army's collective training strategy.
