To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make it his policy to amend minerals planning guidance note No. 6 to include (a) references for the need for the adoption of demand management policies in regional planning guidance, structure and local plans and (b) references to the need to encourage consideration of aggregates use in the environmental apraisal of plan options.

These matters are being considered in the light of the responses to the draft guidelines issued for public consultation in January. The revised guidelines will be published later this year.
