To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what cost savings he estimates would be made in each of the next four years if one Trident was mothballed; and if he will make a statement.

The Government remain committed to a four boat Trident force. Estimates of the possible savings which could accrue from mothballing any of the Vanguard class submarines are not, therefore, available.
