Mr. David Atkinson

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the restoration of Bournemouth Central station.

Mr. Freeman

I understand that British Rail hopes that work on the restoration of Bournemouth station can begin in 1996–97, and should take about 15 months to complete. This project will be the responsibility of Railtrack, which will own station freeholds.
