To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what changes he plans to make to the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations following the Government's deregulation review.

As part of the Government's deregulation initiative, I have invited the Health and Safety Commission to review the costs and benefits of health and safety legislation. The review will include the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations. The commission has established seven industrial task groups to assist in this work, and plans to report on its review in April 1994. It is therefore far too early to know what the HSC will propose.
