To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what provision for rural sewerage schemes was included in Yorkshires Water's asset management plan for 1989–90 to 1999–2000; and if he will make a statement.

I am informed by Yorkshire Water that no specific provision for rural sewerage schemes was made in the company's 1989 asset management plan for the period 1989 to 2000. However, the company will respond to statutory requisitions for first-time sewerage in accordance with legal requirements.
