To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he is making to the Government of India to provide immediate free access to India without conditions to reputable international human rights organisations to investigate human rights violations; and if he will make a statement.

We have been urging the Indian Government for some time to allow access by human rights organizations. We therefore welcome the recent decision of the Indian Government to allow certain human rights organizations to visit India and hope that such visits will take place in the near future.
