[holding answer 17 July 1995]: Peatland sites of special scientific interest are currently being surveyed and assessed. Once this work is complete, English Nature will consider later this year whether any boundary changes are necessary.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what representations English Nature has received from the Peat Producers' Association or any of its member organisations on (a) revision of sites of special scientific interest boundaries on any peatland sites of special scientific interest with valid planning permission for peat extraction and (b) on any peat bogs listed as possible special areas of conservation on its consultation document dated 31 March; and if he will list the sites involved. [34788]

[holding answer 17 July I995]: In response to consultations by the Government, Levingtons Horticulture Ltd. welcomed the inclusion of Wedholme Flow and Thorne Moors on the list of candidate special areas of conservation. They suggested the removal of certain areas which did not contain a habitat of the type listed in the directive.
