To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department, pursuant to his answer of 5 July, Official Report, columns 210–11, what proportion of without foundation asylum appeals were determined within the time-scale prescribed by the Asylum Appeals (Procedure) Rules, in (a) 1994 and (b) 1995 to date. [35752]

In (a) and (b), no 'without foundation' appeals were determined within the time limit of seven days set out in the rules.The cases are usually listed for hearing within seven days. A proportion, however, are adjourned at the request of the appellants' representatives to a date outside the specified time limit.
