To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department, pursuant to his answer of 5 July, Official Report, columns 210–11, what proportion of without foundation asylum appeals were determined within the time-scale prescribed by the Asylum Appeals (Procedure) Rules, in (a) 1994 and (b) 1995 to date. In (a) and (b), no 'without foundation' appeals were determined within the time limit of seven days set out in the rules.The cases are usually listed for hearing within seven days. A proportion, however, are adjourned at the request of the appellants' representatives to a date outside the specified time limit.
