To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what are the current costs of police uniforms in the Metropolis; how many officers are involved; and if he will make a statement. [33727]

I understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that the current cost of a standard police uniform is £500 plus VAT. All 27,909 officers in the Metropolitan police are issued with a uniform: 23,900 are assigned to uniformed duties.
