To ask the President of the Board of Trade what stage the Post Office had reached in planning its own savings account; and if he will make a statement. [33649]

The Post Office already offers a savings account on behalf of the department of national savings. The two organisation are considering ways in which existing arrangements might be improved for the benefit of customers but the outcome of this work should not be prejudged.
