To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will investigate the extent to which banks, and other commercial institutions may, within current statutory provisions, make direct approaches to juveniles under the age of 18 years offering immediate credit; and if he will make a statement. [37357]

Lenders tend not to provide credit to minors because generally their debts cannot be legally enforced.Under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 it is an offence knowingly to invite a minor to borrow money, or to take credit.The Government have no plans to investigate.
