To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many people are estimated to be homeless in each English county. [36730]

Data on households which local authorities accept responsibility to secure accommodation for under the homelessness provisions of the 1985 Housing Act are reported by local authorities districts on a quarterly basis. Total acceptances by the districts in each county for the quarter ending June 1995, the latest available are set out in the table.
