To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when he will announce the acreages to be planted in respect of cereals, rape or other specified crops; and if he will give urgent consideration to the time scale for planting rape. [36246]

Plantings of oilseed rape may take place in the autumn or spring. Exact timing will depend on individual circumstances but plantings of winter rape are expected to begin in August.Claims for 1995 are currently being verified and input into the computer system. It is not possible to determine provisional figures earlier than mid-September when details are notified to the European Commission and published.
