To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many people gave their nationality as (a) British and (b) Irish on the electoral registration form in 1994–95; and what other significant numbers and nationalities were otherwise specified. [37213]

Information about nationality included on the 1994–95 electoral registration forms in Northern Ireland was not recorded centrally as there is no legal requirement to record statistics on nationality.Information is available, however, on the nationality of those EU nationals who registered separately to vote in the 1994 European election. The nationalities were as follows:
