To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list for each of the last five years the average amount of overtime worked by air traffic controllers and the number of staff in post. [36712]

The vast majority of the United Kingdom's air traffic controllers are employed by the Civil Aviation Authority. Data for other air traffic controllers could be provided only at disproportionate cost.No overtime has been worked by the CAA's air traffic controllers in the last five years.The following figures give the number of air traffic controllers employed by the CAA since 1992.

  • 1992: 1,298
  • 1993: 1,297
  • 1994: 1,380
  • 1995: 1,428

The figures requested for 1991 can be provided only at disproportionate cost.
