Airline Subsidies

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport which EU Governments subsidise their airlines; and which subsidies have been ended since January.

The Governments of France, Greece, Ireland, Portugal and Spain currently give state aid to their national airlines in accordance with approvals granted under article 93 of the treaty of Rome. There is no example of a subsidy which has ended since January 1995.
