To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many (a) males and (b) females whose identity is in doubt are currently being detained; and what is the longest current period of detention. [37479]

Information on the total number of persons detained under the Immigration Act 1971 whose identity is in doubt is not readily available and could be obtained only at disproportionate costs. The longest current period of detention for such a person is nearly 16 months.
