To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what is her policy in respect of whether all schools will have to ballot parents on opting out. [37989]

My right hon. Friend has no present plans to require all schools to hold a ballot of parents on the question of grant-maintained status.

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what target she has set for the number of schools opting out by the end of the present academic year. [37935]

My right hon. Friend does not, and never has had, a target for the number of schools to be grant-maintained by the end of this academic year, or by any other date.
