To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many sites of special scientific interest in Wales have been denotified since 1981 on the grounds of a decline in their scientific interest. [38357]

The information is not held centrally in the form requested. However, since the establishment of the Countryside Council for Wales on 1 April 1991, this data has been included in their annual reports. Prior to 1991 it was collated centrally for England, Scotland and Wales by the nature Conservancy Council and was published in it's annual reports. The annual reports of both organisations are in the Library of the House.
