To ask the Secretary of State for Transport whom Railtrack will have to consult after privatisation before selling or leasing its land or other property. [38307]

Although, as now, there will be no specific requirement after privatisation for Railtrack to consult before selling or leasing its land or other property, the rigorous closure procedures set out in the Railways Act 1993 will continue to apply in respect of any proposal by Railtrack to close a part of its operational passenger network or any railway facility that it operates.
