To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many instances of aircraft using reheat have been recorded by RAF police conducting covert monitoring of low flying in each year since 1990. [4486]

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many aircraft movements have been observed by RAF police conducting covert monitoring of low flying in each year since 1990. [4487]

The numbers of aircraft observed by the RAF police while conducting covert monitoring, including deployments with the Skyguard radar system, of military low flying in each year since 1990 are as follows:

  • 1990: 461
  • 1991: 780
  • 1992: 850
  • 1993: 788
  • 1994: 265
  • 19951: 236.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many complaints from the public his Department has received arising from low-level flying in each of the last five years. [4730]

The numbers of complaints and inquiries about military low flying received by my Department in each of the last five years are as follows:

  • 1991: 4,846
  • 1992: 6,295
  • 1993: 5,738
  • 1994: 5,778
  • 1995: 16,492.
