To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list those (a) consultants, (b) outside organisations and (c) individuals employed by his Department in each year since 1990, indicating the purposes of their employment and the total payments made to them. [3968]

For information on consultants employed by my Department relating to the financial year 1994–95, I refer the hon. Member to my reply to the hon. Member for Darlington (Mr. Milburn) on 12 July 1995, Official Report, column 597. For information prior to 1994–95, I refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for Darlington on 23 March 1994, Official Report, column 1223, by my hon. Friend the Member for Bexhill and Battle (Mr. Wardle), the then Under-Secretary of State, for the Home Department.A list of outside organisations employed by the Department since 1990 and the purpose of their employment as well as total payment made to them could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.For information on individual employees, copies of the civil service staff in post summary tables for 1990 through to 1995 can be found in the Library. Each employee is involved in assisting the Department to attain its aims and objectives as set out in the departmental report. Pay bill figures for individuals employed by the Department are as follows.
