To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will list be each independent tribunal service region-area the total number of industrial disease mucous membrane medical appeal tribunal appeal hearings held each month since January 1994 giving (i) the number of successful awards and the average percentage of disability awarded and (ii) the number of percentage of (1) successful cases and; (2) unsuccessful cases conducted with (a) a claimant's representative present and (b) no claimant's representative present. The information requested is not readily avaiable and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what research his Department has undertaken to assess differences in social security appeal tribunal, MAT and disability appeal tribunal appeal outcomes for claimants with or without representation at the appeal hearing. [6322]

No research has been undertaken by this Department specifically on this subject.
