To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what results were obtained from the consultations between the then Department of Education, the Department of National Heritage and the Arts Council on the subject of securing improvements in the funding for students of dance and drama. Discussions on this issue are continuing. No final decisions have yet been taken.

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment how many students of dance and drama are (a) presently on course, (b) receive discretionary awards and (c) finance themselves; and what were the equivalent figures for 1992–93. [10350]
