To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what proportion of the cost of peacekeeping in Bosnia is to be borne by each of the member states of NATO. [10253]

Those costs which have been accepted as common costs for the IFOR operation will be borne by all members of NATO according to the appropriate cost share formulas. All other costs will be borne by the individual troop-contributing nations, largely by each meeting the cost of their own national deployments. The United Kingdom has assessed its own costs to be in the region of £300 million for the duration of the operation. We have no visibility of the costs other nations will have to incur.
