To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what discussions have taken place between the parties on the amount of compensation to be paid to the former Director General of the Prison Service; and whether a quantified offer of compensation has been made by his office; [10324](2) how long was taken to agree compensation for the former Director General of the Prison Service; and what is the norm in such cases. [10334]

It would be inappropriate to disclose details of the discussions which are continuing between lawyers representing both parties. The length of time taken to conclude such matters depends upon the circumstances of each case.
