To ask the President of the Board of Trade what estimate he has made of the impact on employment in the north-west regions of the introduction of minimum of £4 an hour under social chapter provisions. [36094]

A recent study estimated that a minimum wage of £4 an hour would cost 140,000 jobs in the north-west assuming only half restoration of differentials.
