To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what factors underlie reductions in stocks of high-level nuclear waste between 1991 and 1994 compared with the period 1986 to 1991, as set out in figure 15 of "The United Kingdom National Environmental Health Plan", Cm 3323. [37387]

The decrease results from the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Agency concentrating by evaporation the high-level waste liquors that it stores at Dounreay.
