To ask the President of the Board of Trade what plans he has to ensure that major publications from his Department are accompanied by a simultaneous electronic release of the text on the Internet. [37241]

My Department will continue to publish appropriate material on the Internet, including some major publications that have traditionally appeared only in print. Command papers are available on the DTI web site. Indeed, the DTI has also been at the forefront of making use of this interactive medium to deliver best practice and benchmarking guidance to business under the information society initiative and the managing in the 90s campaigns. Traffic to the DTI world wide web site is on the increase and more specialised pages are about to be launched to provide information to UK exporters to enhance further the range of information delivered to the business community through our Internet presence. OST also has its own home page on the net.
