My noble Friend the Minister for Roads and Road Safety held a series of meetings during July on the arrangements for the forthcoming review with representatives of environmental groups; road user and construction groups; local government; statutory bodies; and industry. The bodies represented at these meetings were as follows:

- Automobile Association
- British Road Federation
- Confederation of British Industry
- Council for the Protection of Rural England
- Countryside Commission
- English Heritage
- English Nature
- Freight Transport Association
- Friends of the Earth
- Local Government Association
- Quarry Products Association
- Road Haulage Association
- Royal Automobile Club
- Royal Society for the Protection of Birds
- Transport 2000.
